CalNano Nano is a prefix related to size. One (1) nanometer is 1 billionth of a meter, and also equal to 0.0000000393 inches.

A human hair is approximately 0.004 inches in diameter. So, you would have to split a human hair about 101,781 times to get a nanometer.

Nano-materials are materials with features that are in the nano range. There is no consensus on the maximum or minimum feature size that qualifies it as “nano”.

However, the greatest accepted nano standard is:
  • 1-100 nm is “nano”
  • 100-400 nm is “near-nano” or “ultra-fine”
  • 1000 nm-10,000 nm is “micro”
